Hospitality Heroes Golf Tournament Set for Nov. 25

On Monday, Nov. 25 the 6th Annual Hospitality Heroes golf tournament will take place at Patriots Point Golf Links in Mount Pleasant. This annual event raises funds for local charity Hospitality Heroes, which was established in 2008 to help employees in the hospitality industry who are experiencing hardships such as injuries or family emergencies. This year the focus of the tournament is on Keith Purdy who has been in the hospitality industry in Charleston for many years. He recently suffered a massive stroke and will be taking on some big medical bills. “The hospitality industry is not only a huge industry in Charleston, but it’s a huge family and when one of our own needs help we come together,” says Steve Carroll, owner of Water Dog Grill. The rain or shine tournament format is a 4-Man Captain’s Choice with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

Hospitality Heroes Fund was established to assist Charleston-area hospitality employees who incur financial burden due to medical or family emergencies. When a serious injury occurs, or an individual or one of their children experiences a prolonged hospital stay, the hospitality industry continues to thrive, but in many instances, it is tremendously difficult for the employee to continue living their life as they knew it. The Hospitality Heroes Fund is designed to help bridge the financial gap and allow our colleagues to get back on their feet.
